Hi residents of 1E2'09. Once again, welcome to 1E2 news flash reporting, this is your host, Yan Lin.

On June 21st was the gathering for the residents with our President. Thanks to our President for opening up her "White house" so that our residents could have a chance to take a look at her house and have a "High tea" session with her. It was a fun time with our dear President. All of the residents is looking forward for the next gathering. In addition, to all those who can't make it or even don't know about this gathering, a million sorry for it. There will sure be another gathering at the end of the year.

Thanks to Yanlin for helping to organise the outing. Attendance is 30% today which is not too bad considering some of you were overseas or having CCA and stuff in school. My reporter Yan Lin will helped to post up the photos taken!

Hope our next gathering will see the majority of 09 1E2 still attending even if you're in a different class! And we must also invite our beloved Ms Eng who's been still popping by the class blog to attend too!

Well, actually I have nothing to say. Um... alright then I should share with your the 2E1 history teacher.

Other than Zi Wei and others in 2E1 I think this teacher did not teach E2 and 3. What is so special about this teacher is that, she is the endorsement of 'Follow me'. Why? Because she always say FOLLOW ME? Don't believe? ask Zi Wei or people in 2E1 :D

Oh ya, just to let your know earlier, there will be meeting for 1E2'09 somewhere in march :D mre information will be giving next on march :D

First of all, i think Yan Lin is becoming as naggy as me. And she even gave me a warning!!

Anyway happy new year to you guys! I was on holiday from 23 Dec 2009 till 1 Jan 2010. Hence, both my christmas and new year was celebrated up on the plane, without any clue of when is the actual time for countdown. Should I take S'pore time or Europe time? That explains why I didn't respond to the tags/posts for the past few days.

Well, all the best for 2010. No matter which class you are in, remember that you're never inferior to others. Continue to work hard and don't give up easily. Sec 2 is very crucial year as it determines the subjects you will take in Sec 3. So stay focused and of course, remember to allocate appropriate time out for fun and leisure too!

Most importantly, I really hope to see that the good values held by 1E2 in 2009 will follow through 2010. Always know your priorities and if you know something is wrong or against your own conscience, don't do it.

See you guys and gals in school! Remember to be in appropriate attire, hairstyle/colour and cut your nails before you come back! Oh pls spread the word around, to refer to school website for reporting time, I think it is 8.10am and a must to bring ODT and storybook. =)

Alright i think this will be the last post for 2009 that i post for 1e2 blog. Before i post, warnings will be given to the following people,

First, warning to Ms Shang:
I will give you 1 month, meaning from tmr onwards, 1st January to the end of the month to LOG IN to this blog and post the new year opening post for 1E209. If you don't want to post, tell me in the tag box. BUT if you never post within the month, i will look for you on the 1st of February in school and keep on disturb you after school and also call you MDM SHANG!! :D

Welcome to 1E2 news flash reporting speical, this is your host, YanLin

On the 2nd nov, 1E2 residents, prime minister and our President of 1E2 country had a BBQ at the parsi ris park. Sadly to say that it was raining at that time, so they will have to BBQ in the rain.

To my surprise, as I interviewed one of the resident, she said that it was fun BBQ in the rain! WOW! I think this had lead to a wonderful experience to her. :D

There will be another report for this very wonderful event. So stay tune to our news reporting.

Class Allocation

Dear 1E2,

Most of you would have know your class allocation for next year. Congrats to 1E2 as all of you will be promoted to Sec 2E in 2010!

I know some of you were asking if it is possible to switch class, my answer is no. Because all the 4 classes are having same subjects, so there shouldn't be any valid reason for switching.

It's not a time to say goodbye, although you may be going to different classes! I certainly hope to see us keeping in touch and having 091E2 gatherings every year. Remember what I've said? The class blog can still be alive. You can make new friends in your new classes as well as keep in touch with your "old" friends. It doesn't matter which class you are going to, it doesn't mean you are lousy if you're not in 2E1. The key to success is to be self-disciplined and never give up when faced with challenges.

It's been a great pleasure to teach all of you! I wish you all the best in the new academic year. Next year is going to be a busy and crucial one for each and everyone of you. You will be playing a bigger role in your CCA and spending more time in your CCA activities compared to Sec 1. It is also a year whereby your results will determine if you will be put into a class with your preferred subject combination.So do manage your time well, no more laziness and excuses. Play hard and work hard!!

Class Gathering

Dear all,

It is good to see some of you taking the initiative to organise a class outing~Of course, hopefully the turn out between you and your classmates will be good as it is all about class bonding.

However I would like to clarify on what Jeevan has said about me "approving" the gathering. I am okay with the class gathering but please bear in mind, this is not a compulsory outing and not a school-related event. So do make this clear when you ask your parents for permission because the teachers may or may not all turn up (that is if you all are planning to invite us along).

Those who are attending, do be responsible enough to confirm your attendance and make the payment promptly. Because you will not want a happy class gathering to end off an unhappy one because some people ended up forking out alot of money due to people backing out last minute and not paying. The organisers are kind enough to be doing a lot of background work to organise this gathering. Don't make things difficult for them.

Jeevan, you and your friends may first give a few possible dates see which date can most make it, then confirm exactly who will turn up.
After that, come up with a logistic list of what to buy and quantity to buy and estimate the cost. Divide the total estimated cost among the number of people who are coming and collect money from them first before booking the BBQ pit. This will ensure people who claim they will turn up will come as they have paid. Otherwise you guys will have a big problem later with money. I can help you all to look at your logistic and budget list to see if it is reasonable.

Lastly...my question to you all is...those who voted for East Coast Park, do you all really don't mind travelling there with the food and barang barangs? Unless some of your parents are driving you all there, ECP is quite far away from where most of you live. Going home might also be a problem at night. Just something for you all to bear in mind as you all will be most likely going home in the evening and need to change a couple of buses before reaching home.

Now is the time to relax, agreed with Yan Lin. Hope you have an enjoyable long long weekend, having nothing but fun!

Yes, "Mother Shang" wishes to say that as long as you know you've given your best shot in the exams, it is good enough. The important thing is never give up and work hard to achieve what you want. If you have not been putting in sufficient effort and thus, not done well this time round, then you got to reflect over these few months before the next year starts. Start the new year right!

Healthy competition within the class is good, however, I would also like to stress that we should not be selfish or start to look down on one another. Help each other in your academic work and progress together as one!

I am not sure if I will still be with you all next year, but in any case, I hope to see the class spirit, friendship and good values that the class have inculcated over the year continue to grow stronger. It's an enjoyable one year spent with you guys!! Keep the positive spirit going!! =)

Tips on Graphs

Hope your holidays are ok so far. Thanks a million to reporter Yan Lin for helping me post up the links for the class to access.

Ain: If you are reading, you did the wrong question.I need you to complete Ex 12.2 Q4,5,6 not Ex 12.1. Remember to submit when school start. Take note of the following pointers below too.

All students, Just a few reminders on graphs:

(1)
Please state scale for both axis:
eg. x- axis : __cm = __ units
y- axis: __ cm = ___ units
(2)
I want to see the label of the Y-axis as Y and X-axis as X beside your arrows.

(3) When they tell you the criteria of plotting a straight line graph e.g Plot the graph of y=2x + 3 from x=-1 to x=4,
remember your axis will be from x=-1 to 4. And when you plot the graph, you must extend your graph to x=-1 and 4 even if they are not the points you chose from your table of values.
You do not exceed your line out of the range of x=-1 and x =4.You will stop drawing your line once it is along the x=-1 and 4 range.

Some of you do not understand the question for Ex 12.3 for example, Q5 ask u to plot pt A, B and C then join them up to form a triangle. After that you got to find the gradient for all the 3sides of triangle. Meaning, I should see gradient of line AB = xxxx (working and ans) and gradient of line BC and AC using the same method. Hope this will help you out to get started as Q6 and 7 are similar just with more lines.

(5) Q9 requires addition stuff: table of values to plot your graph and the labelling of the graph equation.

Anyway here's the reminder, pls remember to do your homework. First is the Geography, Ex 5.1 to 5.3. Its to be pass up on THURSDAY. Do remember.

Dear all,

Please spread this reminder to the rest of your classmates who do not visit the class blog. Pls inform Teng Siong (who was absent)and Ying Xuan (who intended to wear sch uniform) and the others like Ain, Xian Lin, Chang Hong...etc etc

On Monday (31 Aug), pls be in PE ATTIRE as there will be ACES day. Please do not wear school uniform ok! Also, do inform your parents you will be released early around 10.30 to 11am and that Tuesday is a school holiday.

Anyway the teachers were all having a meeting on the day you had your handball. TT's why you don't see too many teachers hanging out there to cheer for their classes! Sorry!

Our sport stars in the "World ICG 2009 games" of the handball had lost in it. This is the very unpleasant news to the residents of 1E2 country.

But to our sport stars, no matter what, your did your very best. its ok that your didnt got into the semi-finals. Your did well, good job!

I did went to the "stadium" to have a look. But when i was there, I didn't saw our pretty President of 1E2 country, Ms Shang Shaoyu. Hope you were there to support when i was not around.

Tmr, our next half of the sport stars will be participating in the basketball. Pls do take the free plane from the 1E2 country and support. Good evening to the residents of 1E2. Welcome to 1E2 News Flash. This is reporter Yan Lin reporting today's news.

First, lets look at our headline for today. As the greendale country has organised the "world ICG 2009 games" our country send some participants to join in the game. Today. I am here announcing that 1E2 country had lost in the Net ball competition. But we went into the semi-final again and OUT again.

Anyway here again want to thank our 1E2 sport stars: Ameerah, Sweeta. So Eui, Kelu, Jaylin, Ying Xuan, JingYi, Cherly and Sakinah for their effort putting into this game. 1E2 residents, lets clap for them.....

Also here want to thank our supporters for shouting and cheering for the sport stars. Also here want to thanks to our 1 Star coach - Mr Slyvestain Li for once again coaching our team. :D

But too bad, our President, Ms Shang Shaoyu and Vice-President, Mdm Nurbee was not there today to support our team. I dont know what happened to our Vice-President. But according to our 1E2 actions party memebers, Mr Kenneth Tan said that out President was not feeling well and currently resting at her White House. Wow!! I was really impressed to see you guys fought so hard just now!
I could really see the class spirit today. Both the team as well as our very own supporters who stayed back and cheered for the class all the way were superb! Not to mentioned, those who stayed on to cheer for your neighbouring classes.

Really feel happy for you guys! Sorry was a little late just now when your first match started. I was rushing some stuff for CCA.

Winning or being the top isn't all to a game. What matters most is you've played your best and of course most importantly enjoyed the game together as a class. Hope there will be no hard feelings about whatever bits of unhappiness that took place during the game. Everyone is just trying their best just now.

anyway today we really fought very hard for the ICG. i can say it is the good start for 1E2. Keep it up.

Here are the information for Inter-Class games. All the information is on the 1st paper and the rules is on the 2nd paper. The teacher say the basketball competition may change to 2vs2. Registration start from tomorrow in school. If you have CCA on one of these day, you are suppose to report to your CCA instead of the games. More information will tell you in class tomorrow.

Here are some other info:

Netball(girls)- Players-6, reserve-3
Handball(mixed)- Players-4 boys, 3 girls, reserve- 1 boy, 1 girl
Basketball(girls)- Players- 2 or 3(not confirm yet) reserve- 2 or 3
Basketball(boys)- [Same as girls, only boys and girls team is separated]
Soccer(boys)- Players-7, reserve-4
Captain's ball(mixed)- Players-4 boys, 4 girls, reserve-3 boys, 2 girls.

Time really flies and we've been together for 6 months. Hope that everyone is doing well at GDL so far. How's your June holidays so far? Playing hard and studying hard at the same time?

I promised Cheryl I'll leave a note here tonight regarding my stay in Greendale..

Yes it has been confirmed that I'll be staying in Greendale for about one more month. My last day will be on the 27th July.

Class, i think we need to talk.

First, for the what rubber band matter. Please stop this alright? it is very childish. dont care who start it first but please just stop. if this matter had already stop then please no more alright?

Second, for the blog matter. Let me say this clearly to the whole class. THIS IS A CLASS BLOG!! A 1E2 CLASS BLOG! not a place for fighting, quarrel to occur. Please arh, no matter what kind of thing pls dont scold each other in the cbox. I believe ur dont want the class cbox to be taken away because of this right? so, this matter shall stop today. i shall also delete away darren's post.

Let us dont disappoint Ms Shang and Ms Eng alright? like what Ms shang said, we are a VERY NICE class. so dont spoilt this image. Let us continue to be a united, nice class alright?

last thing, although it is not my problem or what, but i shall represent the what rubber band shooter to apologise to the class for this problem. and outsiders pls stay away from this problem.

A description sketches a picture in words.In a descriptive essay, you describe a thing, person, place, feeling, or an event.To do so, you need to use expressive language and concrete examples.

A description is often personal, since you would describe something as you view it.However, if you were to describe a cat or any other animal, you would combine the physical description of a cat together with your own perception of a cat.So, you could say a cat is a feline, four legged creature, and also add your own ideas about the cat, such as it is disloyal, or that it is cunning, or that it is greedy, depending on how you view the animal.

I.Introduction:
This will follow the general-to-specific format –
general ideas regarding to the subject and then move on to specific points.
Example:
In order to describe your classmate, you could begin with ideas about classmates in general and what they mean to you.
Then, move on to the importance of having classmates, and various types classmates. This will lead you directly to the specific classmate you want to describe. End the introduction with a thesis statement.

II: Thesis statement:This reflects your composition focus and determines its content and structure.It usually refers to the subject + the writer’s opinion about it + and reasons for the statement.
Example: “My favourite classmate is an interesting person of contrasts. (statement) She is friendly, but can be scary at times. (writer’s opinion) She is usually pleasant but can flare into a terrible temper if angered. (reasons) This thesis lays out all the main points about the person/thing that you are describing.

III Body Paragraphs:
Each paragraph will address specific pointers in the thesis statement and support it with examples.
For example, when you write that your classmate is can fly into a terrible temper, you will not only explain the idea but also give an example of one incident when she suddenly lost her temper when angered.

IV. Conclusion:This is essentially a summary of the main points. In this section, you will also need to emphasize the thesis. In addition, you could give the reader something to think about:
How that classmate affect your life, what he/she means to you, and other such relevant details.

The descriptive essay is thus a well laid out compilation of various qualities and features of a subject and creates a word-picture for readers.

The words used to describe the person or thing are extremely important.Words used are mainly adjectives, since they help describe qualities, features, and characteristics.It is important to use appropriate and specific words that highlight the quality you want to focus on.
Example:To describe a house, you would need to use words like spacious, colorful, comfortable,and other such words that refer to its specific characteristics.
